Thank you!

A heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful visitors over the weekend – it was so lovely to see you all! We hope you enjoyed exploring our artists’ studios, finding out about their processes and seeing their work, and that you will join us again next year for the 12th Wirral Open Studio Tour on 11th-12th June 2022.

If you would like to take part in the next Wirral Open Studio Tour please subscribe to our artist mailing list to receive the call for artists when it comes out in January.

Plan your route!

The 2021 Wirral Open Studio Tour is this weekend and our artists are looking forward to welcoming you to their studios!

Have you planned your route yet? We hope you’ve managed to pick up a copy of our brochure to help you plan your weekend by now, but if not you can download one and pick up a printed copy from the first studio you visit. You can also browse through the list of studios here. Our studios are open 10am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday (with a couple of exceptions – see below).

We all know that things have to be a little bit different this year. Many of our artists are inviting you into their homes, so we are sure that you will respect their wishes if they ask you to wear a mask if you are able to, or to wait a little before going in if it’s busy. Sadly, there may not be quite as much homemade cake on offer this year – but there will still be plenty of beautiful art, and Wirral has plenty of excellent cafes which need our support.

Changes to advertised opening times

Studio 5 : Williamson Art Gallery
Saturday 10am – 4:30pm / Sunday 10am – 4pm

Studio 25 : West Kirby Arts Centre
Saturday 12:30 – 4:30pm / Sunday 10am – 4pm

2021 Artist Line Up

We are pleased to announce the artist line up for the 2021 Wirral Open Studio Tour, which will be held on 11th-12th September. This year we have 67 artists taking part in 36 studios right across Wirral so there will be plenty to see! You can browse through our list of artists here – who will you visit?

Our tour guide brochures will be distributed to libraries, community centres, galleries, cafes and shops right across the peninsula during August so you will be able to pick one up to plan your own tour of the studios, or you can download one here.

WOST2020 Group Exhibition at Staacks

Wirral Open Studio Tour in collaboration with Staacks Gallery

While we were disappointed to have to cancel this year’s Wirral Open Studio Tour, we do now have a little good news. The lovely people at Staacks Gallery in West Kirby have offered the WOST2020 artists the opportunity to put on an exhibition of works throughout the month of July.

Staacks will be reopening on Thursday 2nd July and 40 of the artists who would have been opening their studios this year will have work on display. We know this is not quite the same for you as visiting a studio to see how things are created, but it will give you a little taster of our work, enable you to discover new artists and may even help you to decide which studios you would like to visit next year.

We encourage you as an art lover to go along to view the exhibition if you are able, support your local artists and also support one of our valuable local independent galleries.

The gallery has been deep cleaned and rearranged inside to facilitate a one-way system. In accordance with guidelines, numbers inside the gallery will be limited so do please be patient if you happen to visit at a busy time.

2020 Applications now closed

Thank you to all the amazing artists who have applied to take part in the 2020 Wirral Open Studio Tour. We are sifting through the applications now before beginning the hard work of putting the tour together.

Artists will receive confirmation soon and we will publish the list of selected artists here as soon as we can.

Call for Artists 2020

Calling all Wirral artists … Applications for the 2020 Wirral Open Studio Tour are now open!

We would like to invite Wirral based professional and semi-professional fine and applied artists to submit their applications to take part in this year’s Wirral Open Studio Tour.

The 2020 event will take place over the weekend of 13th-14th June and as ever we are aiming to make it the best yet. The open studio weekend is different from any other local arts event, giving visitors the opportunity to see artists in their working environment and to really engage with what they, and their work, are all about. Our visitors tell us that this is one event they really look forward to each year, planning their own ‘tour’ of the studios with great care.

Last year, 65 artists benefited from taking part, welcoming hundreds of visitors from Wirral and surrounding areas and many from further afield into their studios. These artists made sales, accepted new commissions, created valuable contacts and generally found that there is really no substitute for just talking to people about your work.

If you would like to take part this year, please apply using our online form here. The deadline for all submissions is midnight, Sunday 2nd February 2020.

We look forward to hearing from you!

If you have any questions or are wondering whether the event is right for you then please get in touch.
