Hairy Pear Press

With major organic and scientific themes my work is predominantly observational, celebrating the detail of the everyday. It is mindfulness in art. I am fascinated by natural shapes, colours, patterns and textures from organic sources such as flowers, shells, trees, rocks and landscapes using individual objects both as inspiration and directly as a vehicle for ink transfer.
Traditional printmaking as a technique is non exact; it celebrates the differences and echoes an ethos of an inclusive society. How the ink hits the paper, it is truthful; revealing the detail of hand-carved gouges, in unique ways with every print. My work celebrates the individual. I struggle to complete identical series of prints, in favour of cohesive elements which bond a collection of unique prints together. My latest work celebrates this randomness and details the chance within nature, whether it be colours, objects or people coming together to form something new.
