Alison Bailey Smith

Having been involved in the repurposing of metal, plastic and fabric waste in my craftwork for over thirty years, I have been committed to reducing the amount of waste produced by our current consumer society. My work is motivated by my experiences as a child of resourceful and thrifty post-war parents in Edinburgh and by watching Blue Peter in the 1970’s. My desire to re-use, re-develop and re-create can be seen in the materials I use in my creations.

It’s the first time I’ve opened a working studio after more than three decades and three countries since leaving Edinburgh College of Art in 1990.
