I enjoy experimenting with many different types of creative mediums and especially love inks and handmade papers, which I combine into my mixed media 2D artwork, artists’ books and bookbinding. My inspiration comes from the simple beauty of land and sea, especially woodland and wetland. Taking lots of photos to use as reference points, I’m then intuitively drawn to the colours, patterns, and simple lines rather than the whole picture.
I am currently exploring the ancient art of marbling on paper, creating book covers for my handmade sketchbooks and journals.
I will be taking my popup studio to Melrose Hall, Hoylake, where alongside my 2D artwork, artists’ books and handmade sketchbooks and journals, I will display a selection of bookbinding tools and will show some of the different stages that go into making a handstitched and bound sketchbook.
