Ann Lewis

As an artist who has a great appreciation of multiple art practices, it seems that I have latched myself firmly into the drawing process. I have spent time recently experimenting with pastels. I wanted to produce artwork depicting ideas about PEACE and HOPE. Something that the Pre Raphaelites might be inspired to do.

My latest artwork is called HOPE, it is a very idealistic drawing. I wanted this piece to have a religious element. The women in the centre represents HOPE. In one hand she holds a scale in the other she holds a face covering. Around her feet there is a basket of fruit and a skull. The fruit is a positive, taken from the trees in the distance. The skull of course, symbolises death. The glass timer is another measuring device. There is a trellis that runs around the whole drawing, with roses growing on it. I wanted to draw something beautiful.
