The starting point for my pieces is often quick sketches and photographs taken during my wanderings around Wirral and beyond – sometimes taken from a moving train or car, or perhaps as a sequence of snapshots whilst walking. Back in the studio I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture these fleeting moments and day to day places and giving them an artistic makeover.
My work usually combines a range of processes including print, collage, drawing and paint. I like to build up layers, adding an element of chance and resulting in pieces which can tread the line somewhere between abstraction and representation.
I have recently spent time in a local primary school working alongside pupils from Years 3 and 4 on a project based on their school buildings. Some of their lovely work will be displayed in our studio.
