Daniel Meakin

I have been executing and selling my paintings for more than 30 years since the age of 15. In 1999 I was awarded my MA in European Fine Art in Barcelona where I continued to live and execute my work as a professional artist painter for 20 years.  I continue to sell my paintings internationally in art fairs, solo and collective exhibitions, and to private collectors. In 2022 I relocated to Wirral where I work from my home studio overlooking West Kirby Marine Lake, which has been inspiring for my seascapes and coastal paintings.

Renowned artists such as Antoni Tàpies and Robert Rauschenberg have influenced my artistic practice by their use of found materials, textures and collage, and painters such as David Hockney and Friedensreich Hundertwasser for their use of colour and form.  Artists such as these inspire me when exploring ideas for new paintings. Like Rauschenberg, I like upcycling, from everyday objects to discarded furniture, sampling with mixed media.
