Jane Bell

After graduating in Design, I worked for many years as a designer/maker of stained glass. I later retrained in computer graphics, got a job working on a Mac and have never looked back. The pure colour of the glass that originally interested me at art school is still present in my prints when printed digitally with archive pigment and when I work with ink.

My prints all start from observational sketchbook work, looking at line, colour, light and shadow, which are then developed into digital prints or traditional printmaking, looking at whichever suits the design the best.

I like to explore different printmaking techniques, looking at mark-making and adding colour with collage or Chine Collé. The results seem to be taking me back to my roots in stained glass, the love of colour.
