Jean Maskell

    I am a multi-disciplinary artist and writer using paint, clay, photography and words to explore themes. I have taken part in over thirty exhibitions and am a published writer. In recent years my work has focused on the natural world; industrial and maritime heritage; social and political equality, and Irish history and culture.

    Recently I have been working on the theme of ‘the Space between’ – impressionistic and abstract work exploring perceptions of possibility and hope evoked by sensory experiences of spaces between sky, sea and land.  Travel and emigration, loss, possibility and adventure, along with our more ethereal relationships with the sea and sky all feature. My aim is to create a story, a feeling, a connection, with paint and words, that resonates with the viewer who looks below the surface. Not all that is can be seen, in the space between
