Jo is an experienced sculptor. She has a love of the natural warmth and beauty of wood, and the challenge of carving it into unique traditional or contemporary sculptures. She works in a variety of woods such as lime, beech and yew. Her work is hand carved (no machinery is used), and finished with natural dyes and oils to bring out the natural beauty of the wood. The resulting sculptures are unique, beautiful, tactile pieces which capture a moment such as the wild beauty of an animal or the wind moving in the sail of a boat. She is happiest when working on three dimensional sculptures and creating contemporary pieces capturing something of the spirit of a wild animal. She also produces relief pieces, signs and takes commissions.
