Born in Heswall and growing up in Hoylake, I feel very passionate about the Wirral. Blessed to live here, I am inspired by our environment and derive great pleasure from my daily dog walks when I am out beachcombing and collecting driftwood and treasures for my mixed media hangings and jewellery.
My painting technique has evolved over time to incorporate sand and earth gathered on my walks which I either mix in with my paints or apply directly to the canvas; rendering tactile memory of the places I visit. The addition of sand and earth gives a wonderful texture and a real sense of connection to the landscape.
I have paintings in both private and public collections including Liverpool Aintree Hospital, Arrowe Park Hospital and Heswall Golf Club, and have collectors globally with work in Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, India and Europe. I exhibit regularly throughout Merseyside and Cheshire and have a collection permanently on view in Seagrass Gallery throughout the year. I also find it deeply honouring to be able to create commissioned works that delight and bring pleasure.
I set up Seagrass Studio Gallery in Hoylake initially and moved to West Kirby in 2016. Here I teach regular children’s art classes and occasional workshops for adults, focusing on 1:1 tuition and art therapy. Seagrass is in Acacia Grove opposite West Kirby station, home to a collection of wonderful, unique creations from over 40 local makers.
