I find great satisfaction in creating work with a neatness, order and precision that eludes me in other aspects of my life. My ‘scapes’ represent reordered versions of the places I love, cramming buildings (very neatly) onto the canvas in a more compositionally pleasing way. I love finding beautiful colour combinations and tend to work in harmonious muted tones.
I have undoubtedly been influenced by my work in the web design industry, where current trends are towards flat, simplified images and limited colour palettes. My work is often mistaken for digital art, and I enjoy the slightly perverse process of painstakingly creating images that could be done perfectly by a computer in a few minutes.
