Julie’s textile art challenges stereotypes about what textiles are, how materials are used, and how traditional textile techniques can be applied to non-textile materials and contexts.
Much of Julie’s work uses traditional hand embroidery techniques combined with a variety of materials in unexpected ways. She is particularly known for her work hand-embroidering onto functional objects, such as tea strainers, to create quirky home decor. Her bold use of colour and texture, her attention to detail, and her eclectic designs create a space rich with visual interest.
Visiting the studio offers an opportunity to see a wide range of Julie’s work and to learn more about the processes and materials she uses.
