Justine Aldersey-Williams

Justine is a textile activist and educator specialising in botanical dyes. She is director of The Wild Dyery, where she devises creative rituals that reconnect people with nature. She has developed a comprehensive training in natural fabric dyeing which has reached 3000+ students in over 40 countries and has been a guest lecturer and speaker at industry events for Fashion Revolution, The RSA, Friends of the Earth and the British Textile Biennial.

Justine is also Founder and Regional Coordinator of N.W. England Fibreshed – a collective of professionals developing a regenerative textile system based around the usage of ‘local fibres, local dyes and local labour’. This year she’s challenged herself to hand-make a pair of ‘Homegrown Homespun’ jeans from flax and indigo grown at Hoylake allotment. Visitors to her studio can hear about the namesake collaboration she initiated and witness her process as she spins, naturally dyes, weaves and sews her crops into a historic garment.
