Laura Heath is a visual artist who produces works in series based on disparate concepts or methodologies, examined in detail. Currently working in both digital and film photography, Laura’s experimental approach often produces one-off works rather than reproducible prints. Techniques include; hand painted glass negatives exposed as photograms and combination prints in the darkroom, digital images manipulated and subverted into new abstract forms, and destructive alteration techniques on film negatives.
Laura’s photography career began as a Forensic Scientist taking evidential photographs before lecturing in Higher Education for almost ten years. Amongst her scientific undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications, she holds an HNC in photography with distinction. She now enjoys being free of the standard operating procedures and is embracing experimentation.
Laura teaches more conventional digital photography to beginners and intermediates at Shore Cottage Studio and has been awarded a Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence for consistently excellent reviews.
