My work relates to the tradition of British and European painting – as exemplified by British artists, such as Turner and Constable – in their quest to capture the essence of a view or perceived image in time. It’s about translating the first hand experience into something more lasting and emotionally expressive – something more visionary, ethereal and spiritual that goes beyond the pictorial. It’s something more emotionally felt. They are not about topographical correctness but more an expression of the emotion felt – so that the process itself becomes the subject of the work.
