My creations are like me, identifying with tradition and being deeply affected by it.

In the world of Chinese art, artists have been affected by a vivid multi-faceted and long termed form of western art in multiple ways. In the past I have been inseparable and deeply embedded in my culture and tradition’s identity. Like most Chinese contemporary artists, I am tempted to challenge our established contemporary era global environment, yet my culture and traditions are embedded in my blood and passes on to my works.

In traditional Chinese art, myths play an important role and in my recent works I have been influenced by a famous poem by a Chinese poet named Zhuangzi and the concept of my works are based around telling a story involving Chinese Myths. According to Barthes, “myth is based on human’s history, and myth cannot naturally occur.” There are always some communicative intentions in myth.
