I have continued to develop my paintings, since graduating from the University of Plymouth in 1999. I began painting urban traffic and crowd scenes that have recently evolved and pushed me towards abstract painting.
Over the years I have had solo shows and group exhibitions in various galleries and also have private commissions in corporate offices. My working process is completely intuitive, building the arrangement of forms, in relation to their edges that touch or dissolve and then bleed into the fabric of the painting. Contrasting colour and harmonising colours bring energy and life into the pictures. The surface texture in the paintings includes both smooth and textured layers. I use a palette knife as well as a paintbrush to scour, scratch, scrape away and build up the layers to build forms, continuously adding, sub-dividing and constructing.
