After studying for Art A level in textiles as a mature student, I completed the City and Guilds course in creative textiles, but have only been producing my own work for exhibition since retiring. My inspiration comes from the patterns in nature and on the land which began with my degree studies in geography and biology.

Using techniques of applique and machine embroidery with hand dyed fabrics and print, I make images of familiar places based on maps and aerial views, and more abstract images of natural forms and landscapes. I enjoy experimenting with different techniques to reflect the subject matter, and am currently using natural dyes, monoprints and ecoprints (contact printing of leaves and flowers), recycling  fabrics as far as possible. If there is a message in my work it is simply to celebrate the natural world and do our best to protect it.
