The physicality of creating expressive and experimental work is at the core of my artistic practice. Engaging with the materiality of the mediums I use; be it paint, ink, charcoal or pastel; pushes me to manipulate their capabilities to create texture, depth and tactility within their layers. Through this, I create a personal visual language of line and colour. In an immersive process of movement and vibrant colour, I use gestural brush strokes and experimental application to explore an ongoing interplay between negative space and areas of energetic detail.
Herein lies the contextual relationship between my abstract works and the day to day experiences we all have; the recognition of needing breathing space in the hustle and bustle of life, the moments of calm in the madness.
