At the beginning of my acquaintance with clay I focused largely on making practical pieces. I quickly realised however that I did not want to focus too much on dishes and was rather more interested in larger sculptural and figurative forms and vessels.
I enjoy the harmony of natural soft forms, biomorphic rounded shapes and calm colour. I generally do not tend to use a lot of glazing in my work and rather love the natural state of the clay. However I have recently been enjoying experimenting with smoke firing and the different results that can be achieved.
