Unfortunately Sue has had to pull out of the open studio tour this year.
Observation is usually the starting point for my work, studying the human figure during life drawing sessions and sketching my local surroundings.
I am often inspired by textures, patterns or effects of light on surfaces, making the ordinary and the everyday become a focus of interest. I use mainly watercolours, painting from sketches and photos, and I am currently working on a series of lino prints, interpreting the subtle lines and marks of pencil/charcoal drawing into the strong tonal contrasts of lino prints. I like to experiment with materials, combining various media and producing different versions of ideas.
