Vivienne Netherwood

After gaining the Certificate in Feltmaking from the International Feltmakers Association, Vivienne went on to explore the creative possibilities of felt in pictures, mixed media objects and accessories. Vivienne loves to explore the rich colours and textures that can be obtained from fine Merino wool, together with yarn, textiles, print and stitch.

Her inspiration comes from many different sources in the natural and urban environment as well as life drawing. In terms of style, she is influenced by a longstanding interest in photography and graphic art.

Most recently, her work has focused on the fields and pathways that surround Clatterbridge hospital. Using her camera and sketchbook, Vivienne has been observing and recording the landscape in order to create original works of textile art exploring variations of textures and colour.
